Gymnastics: A Healthy Foundation
Gymnastics makes such a wonderful foundation motor development activity because it trains the body in a spherical manner. That means that all kinesthetic directions are covered—forward, lateral or sideways, backwards, and inverted. It is the ideal foundation sport to develop coordination, gross, and fine motor skills at a young age. Children have the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and emotionally as they master first the easier and the more challenging skills of our sport. And, best of all, it’s so much fun!
Preschool gymnastics is crucial for giving your baby the best start, developing fine and gross motor skills, strength, balance, rhythm, and their cognitive development. Classes start as parent-and-me at age 6 months, and through children who have not entered Kindergarten yet.
A solid foundation for all sports, recreational gymnastics teaches children fall safety, core strength, motor control, spacial awareness, and confidence. School age classes start for children already enrolled in Kindergarten, and go through 8th grade, all levels taught.
Competitive gymnastics encompasses so much more than you’d think. From olympic individual events, to the coordinated tumbling of Team Gym, to the high-flying tramp skills of T&T, competitive gymnastics now offers kids individualized programs that fit the student!
Many athletes just want to come into the gym and flip, roll, and twist their way around. Our tumbling programs are divided out by skill, helping each athlete either grow overall or work towards a specific skill needed (such as a back hand spring for tryouts at school!)
